Finland 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Firenze Red
TD4 S Firenze Red (manual) picked up yesterday

These pictures were actually added already yesterday to my gallery but was not able to make a related post due to password issues...

So, picked up my new FL2 TD4 S Firenze Red yesterday, great experience for a Landy newbie with the champagne and LRE voucher and all. The car came 1.5 months earlier than the date I was given originally (end of February) -- apparently the good guys at LR had got wind of the impending tax change in Finland which would add several thousand euros to the price of their models and put us ahead of the queue Smile

First impressions:

- Looks great
- Drives great (even with the less powerful engine)

Bonus surprise: front driver and passenger armrests! This was strange because at least here they are not supposed to come with cloth seats, and are optional even with leather unless you go for HSE, But there they were, cloth armrests. I am surprised, but not complaining. Dealer speculated they could be part of the Design pack nowadays?

Weirdness: Even with the automatic headlights that are always on even when the light switch is set to 0, instrument lighting does not go on unless the light switch is turned. OK, I'm not sure what the most common approach is but at least in my previous car (Ford Fusion) the instrument lights came on automatically with the headlights when starting the car. Not much of a problem, although effectively it means that the auto lights are not that much use because I still have to turn the switch when it's dark Smile

All in all, everything is as good or better than expected. Will see how it will look in a few days.

Oh, pictures: (couple more in my gallery)

Thanks go to moo2milk for giving a good idea what the model/color looks like in advance Smile

LR had started putting the Terrain Responce on the "S" on the MY11 models, in the UK Question

Finland 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Firenze Red

Thanks for the Thumbs Up s Smile

gilfishman, yes, the body colour bumper, sills, mirror caps and headlight washers and Oberon grey door handles are part of the Design pack. Front fog lights are standard here for the S equipment level. The alloys are not originals -- reason being that we need two sets of tyres in Finland, these are the studded winter tyres and I did not feel like paying the 800+ € premium for another set of LR alloys Smile but both sets are 235/65R17. Come spring I'll switch over to the LR original 6 spokes.

As for Terrain Response, here it has been standard throughout the TD4 range (which is E, S, SE and HSE here) since the facelift. S here is one notch up from the base level.

big-al-cove, thanks for the brochure, this explains a lot Smile not sure how they mapped my old options into these though as there was no "Armrest Pack" to choose from. Possibly it is because I had selected the optional rear armrest.

Finland 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Firenze Red

By the way, any idea if it is possible to replace the cupholder/slot combination at the back of the centre console with the premium version that has the black lid with silver highlights that usually comes with.. I don't know, Premium pack? It would make it look a bit less plasticky and might be more convenient if it is a single slot -- I think the cupholder/storage ratio is a bit skewed by default Smile and it does seem to be a separate component since the cubby box from Wood Company also involves removing the original setup.

(slightly off topic I guess)

rjc1944, yes, I was unsure about Firenze being too bright but I think it's a quite nice full bodied red. Rimini seemed nice too though.

Thanks for the tip CG! Will add that to my shopping list. Wonder if Duckworths have it...

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

It's a great colour but can be a 'bit pink' in certain light...... I would not bother with the sliding cover box, makes space less practical in use IMHO.... (haave had both) JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....
