OG, for what it's worth, I use an Epsom scanner that has a film/slide adapter. Then use Adobe Photoshop Elements to play with/adjust the results. Does neg to pos etc plus lots more. OK for small quantities but not for whole films etc. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Not a problem to convert either B/W or colour negs to positive digital images.

If you have lots to do, might be worth investing in a Nikon coolscan. They used to be the mutts nuts for scanning slides and negs. |

The Nikons are great - I have a 9000 and a V ED - but Nikon have withdrawn from producing scanners for the UK. Plenty secondhand but getting them repaired/serviced is not easy and pricey.

If you've got a decent digital SLR, stick them on a light box and photograph them! Saves hours of messing around with scanners. |

If you have a lot of slides and negatives and want some thing fast that produces professional quality then look at the Nikon range.

I bought a VEHO just before christmas so that I could scan some of my fathers old slides to put on a DVD for him as a suprise for Christmas. The one I bought was a standalone one with e a small screen built into the device to view and a SD card reader to store them on. So easy and quick to do over 300 slides and the included software was excellent at enhancing poor quality images, a couple that were barely visible came out like proper photos. I have used a photo scanner before to scan slides / negatives and whilst they are not bad quality the VEHO device is worth every penny. |

Sounds like the same kit, & yeah its brilliant for the price. I must admit well impressed with some of the poor image photo's that it corrected.

We had the same prob - a couple of thousand prints / slides to convert. Decided to send them away to a studio - Revive Studios in Cardiff - very good service, free courier included etc and good value / quality. I offer this as I felt it wasn't worth the cost and time of buying a piece of kit I'd only use the once and the faff of removing slides from sleeves, putting them through one after the other etc... |
