Think most of the foams are ph neutral and agreeing with Nick again, I'd rather wash my own car, then I have only myself to blame if it goes wrong. Not sure what owners of Grey Freely's do it for Rolling with laughter

Warm water helps with the foaming action, although it will be mixed with cold when you PW sucks it up, unless your using a hot water feed

We have a local car wash centre, their dirty suds run down the main road and into the sewer Shocked have done for years.

CG, don't worry about my suds, I use my neighbours drive, mine goes green with Algae otherwise Laughing

This is what happens in Lancashire, probably as a result ofall the snowfoam going down the drain.

Only cold at my house, combi boiler to the detached garage is a little too far, and prone to freezing, have pondered on a outside hot tap to attach the hose pipe too though Laughing

I assume using hot water will help with grime removal too, I see a lot of the pro detailers using 60c hot PW washes

If you used softened water would this not give you even more foam Question

Mobile car wash guys. (known to many as detailers Rolling Eyes ) are increasingly using portable bunds, basically an inflatable paddling pool you drive the car onto it then inflate. as they are businesses they cannot pollute like diy'ers can.

professional car wash places really have to catch the polluted water in underground tanks reusing some of the water then getting the tanks emptied by waste companies.

I think in parts of Europe it is getting increasingly difficult to wash your car outside your house due to pollution fears.

Canada too http://collegeessayexamples.blogspot.com/2...ronto.html

I brought the same issue up on an Audi forum years ago, and received a barrage of abuse.
I'll repeat what I said then, Im not making or standing by the rules just stating fact, it will soon be illegal to wash your car at home, using super sudding additives will only make the pollution look worse than it is (even if it is actually less polluting) and therefore hasten any bans. At work
At home

My employer has a huge surfactant storage site on Teesside, I was the Operations Manager up there earlier in my career. What always makes me smile is that

1) the Environment Agency would measure every outlet we had for Chemical Oxygen Demand, Biological Oxygen Demand, and a number of other parameters, we have bunded storage, effluent treatment, catch tanks automated drain closure systems , fire water retention, 100 year flood plans ,etc etc etc to prevent this stuff getting into the drains

2) We then sell the products to manufacturers who blend it under the same stringent conditions and regulations , and produce, shampoo, washing up liquids, car care products, and a myriad of other consumer products,

3) The end user buys them and them pours them down the drain without control Rolling with laughter Joe public pollutes 100 times more than any regulated industry

CG you are being very realistic in your statements, it is only a matter of time before you are either banned from these types of activities at home, or even have a B.O.D.measuring system in your drain and you are charged for the polution.... disbelievers don't laugh at the idea - ten years ago you didn't think you would have 6 waste bins and fortnightly collections.... 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

At present living in an apartment thus not able to wash LR myself.
Local hand wash just puts grit on .
When I bought Freelander I had Wolf's Body wrap applied, and have not washed it since (start of Oct).
Badly needs washing so I was thinking of buying -Valet Pro Orange Pre-Wash spraying this all over then going to a jet wash and just rinsing off.
Anyone know if this will work? or other suggestions Please.

I have to agree with a lot of posters and can see the days of being able to allow anything to go down the drains being numbered 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.
