TAPPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING

Hi All, my 2008 FL2 has a metallic tapping noise (much like tappets on a old petrol car) it happens when I accelerate in all gears but if I slowly (Sunday afternoon driving) progress the speed its OK, this is heard whilst driving with the windows down. I'm edging to a worn throttle body but before I replace has anybody else come across this ?

If it's with the windows down the vacuum pump and fuel pump can make quite a racket on tickover and low revs . Try listening with the bonnet open (while parked of course). They're on the right hand side as you look from front. If that sounds the same could be what it is.

I once had this on an old escort, It turned out to be a cracked piston.

I would suspect the electric throttle! Mine made a noise like that just before it failed!

Small Stone trapped on heat shield creates a irritating noise. Mentioned on here somewhere but I had it as well. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
