United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Narvik Black
Scratched

FL2 went in today for a software upload to fix the common non starting problem at the local dealers. After checking the car when I got home I noticed the car has come back with a few extras - that is extra scratches Evil or Very Mad . The car is black so I have been very very careful over the last 3 weeks since I have owned the car from new not to scratch it. The new scratches are on the top of the bumper above the grill. I guess what has happened is the bonnet has been up when a cable has been attached for the update and this has been placed directly onto the paint as opposed to a protective cover thus scratching the car ever time the cable has been moved.

I picked the car up as the garage was closing so couldn't go back - but thinking on, what’s the point its my word against there's, so spent a little while with T-Cut and wax, so it is at least better. Shouldn't have to do this all the same Mad

I had a Vauxhall before the FL2 and Vauxhall where no better really at looking after your car but I had hoped Land Rover would be better, after all these aren't cheap cars!!

Lesson here - Always check your car at the dealers before you leave !!

I can only imagine how you feel about this happening to your brand new bundle of joy! Big Cry

My feeling is you should go back and mention it and see what they are prepared to do about it, and would expect that they should at least try to professionally polish it out....

Evil or Very Mad I too have had problems with my land rovers and workshop scratches in the past - I complained and they polished them out and once had to respray the wing Exclamation

I asked if they covered wings, etc when working on cars and was told they had covers but they also scratched due to dirt on them so did not use them Rolling Eyes

I always check my car now after dealers have had them before I leave!

It really pi**es me off when the delaer does not look at your car, my FL1 came back from the dealer looking like it had been washed with sandpaper. Despite complaints all they did was polish it but it was no better.

Make sure you inspect your car before you leave the dealer, although this is not always practical.

Also why can dealers never return the car in the same condition, there is always muddy footprints or dirty marks around the door handles when I collect mine and that is from the three dealers I have used over the years!

in contrast

That's really not good enough ....... in contrast, my LR vehicle has always come back looking a whole lot better than when it went in. My service dealer, Harwoods of Pulborough always valet the car, inside and out, whenever they work on your car ... even for a free MOT only trip! Thumbs Up Life is not a dress rehearsal!

So long as it is not bar foot prints on the windscreen Whistle Whistle

After I reversed my old manual into a wall took the car to the L Rover bodyshop in Bedford (not Marshalls as they don't have one) I booked the car in and said to the manager check my car over with me as there are only two marks on it....except for the scratched bumper from the wall. When I picked it up checked the bumper all Ok went to work, got my briefcase out the boot, sunlight caught the rear tailgate, friggin dent in the tailgate!!!! just below the read window Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Briefcase back in the boot and straight back to bodyshop..needless to say they denied it.........needless to say they bloody fixed it too cause it was not me!!!

Eventually my point is 'Fight Your Corner' too many of us just role over and say 'oh well, what can I do about it??' The answer is easy... 'get them to fix it'. Why should we care for our car by being curtious and not dinging into the doors of others, but the dealers can and be allowed to get away with it. Thats probably why you see the L Rovers parked in herd's at retail parks, like minded people who will repect each others cars. Thumbs Up
