Can i ask does anyone know if the six disc cd changer is/can be a direct replacement for the single disc cd changer or does some software require changing? I hope it is a simple swap over??

Hi,

It will depend upon which Freelander Model you have. The 'Alpine' system is a seperate module that sit behind the control panel and looks like it should be able to be swapped out fairly easily.

I'm not sure about the standard audio system however, this looks like a single box solution so should be straight forward to change.

A swap from the standard to premium audio system looks like it more of a challenge . . . .

You must have spotted the one on ebay too ~ was half interested myself but when i enquired about fitting instructions i was side-tracked onto a different subject. Having said that if it was just a plain swap over it must be worth doing. Has anyone sucessfully done the swop? GS with the Leather Pack ~ Zermatt Silver

Checked with the dealer on this issue today. By all accounts you cannot change a single unit over as the car will not recognise a replacement unit as the car vin number will not be programmed into the replacement unit. Basically the dealer confirmed you cannot change a single unit over to a 6 disc unit
