Well, while ever someone creates yet another post about auto v manual and people come on here slagging off the manual and boasting about the auto, I will duly pounce and slag off the auto and boast about the manual.

A strange man in a red suit was handing out pressies to little kids.

That may have something to do with the storyline this Christmas which is called The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe.

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Being a good doctor I hope you can look after your left leg, just in case you need an auto in future.
Although I think I can predict your next post "i would give up driving before I would drive an auto"

I drove the whole 50 miles of the Colin Mcrae Rally as closing car in some of the worst conditions seen on stages for many years, more than happy not to have a gear lever to think about. 4WD rally cars were struggling in places.

you tube mcrae rally 2011 Drummond Hill if you want to see conditions. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Very convincing poll by the way (not). Totally pointless because the majority on here own autos so the poll is a foregone conclusion. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Are you saying the forum is not representative of freelander sales or are you saying that the majority of freelander sales are auto, and if so have you stopped to think why that might be so?
you can only state opinion as fact for so long before you begin to look ridiculous

Australia 2009 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Santorini Black

I wonder if the first gear boxes had ben automatic, would anyone have bothered inventing a manual box? I learnt to drive on 3 speed, non synchromesh first boxes and, as I remember, it was mastering the clutch that caused the problems, not so much moving the lever. Having said that though, 4 speed column mounted gear changers - oh dear!

The only thing it shows is that the majority of people prefer to own an inferior auto. The only thing that is ridiculous is the auto. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

What we could do is place a saucer of water on the floor of The Doctors agriculteral manual and one of the SD4 owners to do the same and take a trip along a runway somewhere, we all know who would get to the end first and we know who would have spilt the most water, it would be pointless though as he still wouldn't see he is wrong Banging Head

The point that has been made that LR can make a stronger clutch because it is fitted in the Evoque is Censored its the same as the Freelander 2.
Why also do they not offer a manual box in the 3.0 Disco the answer is staring at you Rolling Eyes

If this was a cricket match it would have been over long ago, you need at two to bat.
