New Wipers ??

think my windscreen wipers may need changing.

juddering across the screen on a regular basis, tried cleaning the screen with glass cleaner and cleaning the blades, but not a great improvement. ( they actually look ok, no splits, etc )

now two and a half years old and 15000 mls.

wondering how long you guys expect wipers to last ? and any recommendations for replacements ?

Iain

2.5 yrs, 15k - that is a long time., I change mine every year ( 12k),
when rubber is left outside is does not age well. i think 2.5 years is a very long time indeed Very Happy

I change my wipers yearly and do about 10k a year. I used to use RainX on the screen but have changed to G1. RainX caused the wipers to judder sometimes. G1 has settled down nicely and also doesn't leave a misty smear as the wiper moves across the screen.

I've had mine 3.5 years and 20k miles without problem. Don't they last the life of the car? Thumbs Up

Changed mine this year. Got them from the main dealers, work out £1 per wiper more than Halfords and no fiddle bits to change to get them on.

Didnt change mine for 3-years but have always been carful not to damage them in winter.
Puchased very expensive replacement originals from the stealer except the rear one which was purchased from Stormwipers on eBay. The Stormwipers "plastic" design is crap and sounds like someone is farting in the back seat everytime it is used. I wouldnt recommend this type which looks good but is flimsy (plastic) and noisy (scraping the rear window) even when wet. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

just went and bought a set of Bosch replacements from local autospares shop.

also bought the back one as well as sometimes it was making a bit of a noise as if it was dry, even in the wet.

£39.50 for the three blades and what a difference they make !!

my old ones look ok but the rubber on the new ones feels softer, also the new ones match the originals in terms of quality and appearance, unlike some replacements you can buy cheaper.

Went down the Bosch route as well, £32.00 inc delivery (fronts) from WiperBlades.co.uk, miles better than the noisy flebay ones i had before and worth paying the extra for.
