Recently I have easily found back street places in Doncaster & Liverpool that have done a great job for £30/£40 a set for cash (new valves and fully balanced) - seems the going rate.

When I bought 2 new Wranglers from my regular local place, they matched the online price all bar 2 quid a tyre so couldn't grumble. Whilst chatting with one of the guys there for a while, we got round to talking about the online places. He said that he had 4 wheel aligned a car 2 weeks earlier which had brand new online tyres fitted somewhere else, he said that the date stamp said they were 10 years old, despite being 'new'. The guy who bought them took them straight back and got a refund. They were 5 quid cheaper than he could have got from them in the first place. Could be cobblers, but there is normally a reason stuff is cheaper in my experience, normally coz it's not up to scratch.

Beware of cheap top brand tyres.
Customer phoned me for a quote on 4 new Pirelli tyres for his high performance car, heard nothing and assumed I was too dear although my price was vert keen.
Weeks later with the new bargain price tyres fitted he asked me to do a full alignment check as the car was crap (polite word) in the wet.
Car 100%, then I drove it in wet Censored Censored I have a lot of motorsport experience.
Final result the £40 saved bought tyres for the South African Market hard compound for the high temperatures.

Same tyre shop fitted 4 new Michelins to a customer who then complained of slow punctures, getting NO satisfaction from dealer I was asked to check and guess what "avec chambre" was on sidewall. WITH TUBE for those who are not French All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Cheap Import Tyres are a waste of money...
The last car I sold needed 2 new front tyres so instead of Michelins that it had on since new I bought some cheep chinky ones (cant remember the brand) absolute pile of sh*t the car was wheel spinning in 3rd and didn't like going round corners-good job I was getting rid.

Hi Druand
" beware of cheap tyres " Final result the £40 saved bought tyres for the South African Market hard compound for the high temperatures.
Spot on ! Thumbs Up

Years ago I was after 4 tyres for my Carlton GSi 24v and they were quite eye watering to buy in the 90's and found a company in London offering Pirellie tyres about 30% cheaper and assured me it was just because he bought them by the container load !
Dropped the car off & when I returned I was horrified ! yes they were exact size & description but American imports with almost like a cross-ply Tyre tread and of no use in the UK.
I had to pay to have my originals fitted back on so with fuel costs etc it cost me a fortune for nothing .
