Opacity

Just had mine MOT'd for another year and was wondering if the opacity reading gives any indication of the health of the engine. Mine was 0.11.

Assume that means the smoke emitted?

It is a measure of the particles emitted (smoke) but the limit is 1.5. The units aern't % as far as I can tell from the printout. Hopefully someone more technical than me will explain. Mine is a non-dpf engine so I was curious to know if you can draw any conclusions from the reading
