PTI Telephone system

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the PTI telephone system is ? I'm hoping it'll give the ability to link a bluetooth handset to the audio system in much the same way as the aftermarket Becker headunits.

Big decision .... GS or XS - is the XS worth the extra ??

Thanks

BG

I'm planning to skip the satnav, but may go for the bluetooth option. In such a case, will the touch screen be supplied even though satnav isn't chosen? Also, is the PDC only audio, or will it also show on the touch screen? Or, to make the question short, does the touch screen only come with satnav?

The details there are the D3/RRS /FFRR ones, I hope the Fl2 one is better as the quality is not good and the phone book cannot be accessed through BT. I don't think you'll need a screen for the pti.

Having got a D3 the built in Sat Nav isn't as useful as the better aftermarket options, for instance you can't load speed camera points etc on it. But at the same time I hate wires and things haning around the car, so I avoid all that and the theft problem. The D3 has a 4x4 info centre on the sat nav too which is very handy, but I don't expect the Fl2 to have that.

I think my wife will want the HSE so sat nav is standard, but I would think carefully before forking out £000s of pounds as an extra.

So the LR2 has no function for the soft touch screen except for the satnav?

Hi Pelyma
You mentioned that it would not be possible to load speedcams, I use a German site for my speedcam software,if you use this site(DE-Warner) might be worth checking with them, perhaps you will share their reply with fellow forum members(my membership with De-Warner has lapsed)
All the best David

Believe me lots and lots of people have tried, but none that I have heard of have succeeded. Martin have you heard of any?

In theory it is possible, but unlike the BMW system the format of the data on the LR system is much more complex.

It is an open data format, called KIWI-W, but the main members of the consortium which created the format are Japanese manufacturers, so the documentation can be difficult to understand. So far no-one's cracked it Sad

..................

I'm told that in cars that don't have built in satnav there will be a storage space where the touch screen is. I'm just hoping that space is big enough for my TomTom ! Problem is all the cars that are around at present (or have been tested by the media) seem to be HSE's with all the bells and whistles. I want to see a GS in the flesh!

Satnav is the same unit as D3, the pti is better. You can use sat nav on the move, which you couldn't on D3 until MY07

Who manufactures the sat-nav - is it Alpine, or is that just the ICE ?
