Possible to Modify TD4 (160hp) to SD4 (190hp)?

hi, my freel2 is a td4 (2008). originally, it is 160hp & 400nm. do you think it is possible to modify my freel2 becoming a sd4 that generates 190hp & 420nm?

if it is possible, what kind of parts that need to be changed?
(a) turbo
(b) intercooler
(c) hoses
(d) exhaust
(e) fuel pump
(f) rails
(g) injector
(h) high pressure pump
(i) waste gate

thanks for your valuable advices... Fans of Land Rover

Do not be tempted to fit an add on tuning module, have your ecu remapped for increased power/torque.I had this done to my previous TD4 (now have an SD) and the difference in acceleration from 45mph to 80+ was much better, in normal driving fuel consumption improved.
I note you are in USA, if car is manual I would not increase power as clutch is questionable, all SD are auto. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Is yours a manual or an auto?

If it's a manual, I think that there are reasons why the manual version isn't supplied with 190bhp....

Malaysia 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

thx for your feedback. i am from malaysia and my freel2 is a diesel version with 6 speed auto transmission Smile

Year 2008 2.2L (Auto) TD4 160hp @ 4000rpm & 400nm @ 2000rpm. - now hitting around 150,000km after 2 years drive - top mileage in my country so far.

wish to modify it becoming a sd4 if the engine is the same. but i still don't know what other parts that need to be modified together to make it exactly as sd4. the car was remapped but the remapping causes crack on the hoses of turbo & intercooler and finally now the manifold on the exhaust. previously have changed all the hoses to the silicon and aluminium pipe as well as the new intercooler (because the joint of intercooler and the hoses cracked and need to change a new intercooler made of ALL steel).

after the warranty was void when it reached 100,000km early this year, it became a very troublesome car and need to be stayed in workshop once every 3 weeks and pay lots of $$ on its repair and change of parts.

actually thinking of selling this old td4 and getting a brand new sd4 unfortunately it is hardly to resell the car as there is no 2nd hand value market in my country. therefore i am planning to modify it becoming a sd4 for its performance and remain all its safety features. i like this car so much indeed.

hopefully all of you can contribute your advices to me, especially those who have done this before, thanks alot. Fans of Land Rover

All you need is a simple Superchips Bluefin re-map. £600 and you will have 190bhp just like the SD4, although on the road they are still not quite as quick as an SD4.

No need to change anything else. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
