England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame
Tempted to change to a HSE

I have a 07 plate gs manual that as been totally bullet proof and given us much enjoyment on various trips to france loaded up with 4 bikes and two kids and plenty of luggage……..now the question is should i go for the 57 plate hse auto that is catching my eye?,after all i have been one of the lucky ones concerning reliability so just don't know if i should take the plunge. Very Happy

Auto will probably be more reliable than manual, given that the fl2's weakness is its clutch, but an auto will chew its brakes away faster.

Unless it's much lower mileage and / or much better condition and / or you must have an auto, I wouldn't bother, or take the risk.

It is a bit of a gamble, you know the vehicle you have, you don't know the one that you are looking at, it's six months newer, don't think I would want to take a chance on a four year old vehicle not knowing its history against one I already have that is six months older just for a few more toys.

Stick with the one you know works! HSE = more electronics to go wrong / cost you a packet.

For the sake of 1 registration plate change I wouldn't bother. If you are going to the expence & or hastle of changing at least go up a couple of years & you would then get better spec too as it will be 2 model years newer. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I would agree, the HSE is much nicer, but not enough to change in this scenario
