Just wondering if anyone out there has a 10MY FL2 auto and wished they had bought a manual? I've got a 2010 10 plate GS manual c18K miles which will be being sold in the winter but I may be able to keep an auto box version in the house...anyone interested in swapsies (making allowance for auto being slightly more expesive of course) |

Got a MY11 manual and I'm perfectly happy with it. Sometimes I also get to drive an MY11 auto at work so get the best of both worlds. |

Lucky you! A MY11 wouldn't suit us because of the dpf and a great deal of town driving. |

Interesting about DPF haven't had a problem in mine which does quite a lot of town driving and the work one spends virtually all its life off road and doesn't seem to have any DPF problems. |

The manual vs auto debate has probably been done to death already I seem to recall other threads on the topic.

DPF was fitted to all models in UK with effect from the introduction of MY11 and was a requirement to meet the latest EU emissions standards. Think you'll find all diesels now come with DPF.

The DPF traps the soot...under 'normal' conditions the car can burn off the soot however under other conditions (particularly lots of short journeys) the system gets too full of soot and you need to take it your local LR Chimney Sweep who will get his brushes out and give your wallet a thoroughly good clear out. DPF is quite an unreliable technology - all makes. |

As an oversized coffee table I assume At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race |

Sorry to pee on your chips Rich but once you’ve had an auto for a while and got used to giving the left leg a rest there’s no going back! Unless of course you can’t live with the slightly worse MPG an auto gives ya...

Thanks for the bump..I too because of other cars in the family am now an auto addict. I'm banking on someone either not liking auto or not liking the poor fuel economy compared to the manual |

Not wishing to restart an old argument but I thought the auto did better on mpg because changes are optimised?????? JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
