Flakey one-touch windows

Ok, I'm perplexed.

Took the LR2 in for service for a faulty fuel gauge a couple of weeks ago. Didn't realize until two days later (it's my wife's car) that the one touch up windows were not working, all four windows.
- They went up manually, went down one touch but not up.
- Called and made an appointment to have the dealer look at it, assuming it somehow got unprogrammed in the process of fixing the fuel gauge.
- A couple of days later the rear windows starting working one touch up
- A few days after that, the driver's but not passenger side front window starting working one touch up
- Today, the day before the appointment, the passenger side window starting working one touch up

Uh, do these vehicles have magical healing properties???

On the one hand I'm just happy they are functioning properly now but on the other hand it's disconcerting that it is in a state of change. And yes, I tested them VERY thoroughly at each phase.

Thoughts? Greg East

The way to reset the windows is detailed in the handbook, it is possible and even likely that you accidentally reset them whilst testing as a simple 3 second holding down of the appropriate button restes the window in the function that it has last performed.

The reason you lost function is that the dealer must have disconnected the battery , as explained in the handbook the windows need re calibrating if the battery has been disconnected , until they are recalibrated the function is disabled for safety reasons ( to stop un advertant trap ) . By operating the windows for a few days you must have by accident replicated the recalibration proceedure . In summary nothing wrong with your car , just a dealer who missed a step !

Terrific, thank you, I feel much better now.

Of course now I wonder why the dealer didn't just tell me that when I called to make the appointment...

Again, thanks for the insight, next time I'll RTFM Bow down Greg East
