A couple of tracks near Derby

For anyone in the Derbyshire area particularly near Derby, I have two tracks to recommend.

I have gone off roading in the peak district before but these tracks can form a scenic route to work Whistle Laughing

I have posted about one before and shown pics but I will be trying the other this week. I have checked OS maps and motorists are ok on both routes.

Use google maps: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Search for Moor Lane, Little Eaton. That's the track I have done many times.

Also search for Wood Lane, Brailsford. Use satellite view and you can see it branches off to the left and eventually emerges in Mercaston. The street view car has gone as far as the junction where you branch off to the left.

Well worth a look for members in the area and it's going to rain tomorrow so the mud bath should be in full swing on Moor Lane Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

CANCEL THE BRAILSFORD TRACK IF YOU VALUE YOUR PAINTWORK

I have been down the wood lane track and have scratched the paintwork to bits with holly and thorns etc.

Fortunately I was already considering a machine polish so I am now definitely going to. £140 all in. All day job and every part of the body is machine polished to remove scratches.

The problem was the track narrowed half way down so I was stumped!

There was so many of them that if I tried to cut them with secateurs, I would probably still be there now.... from 7.30am.

Some of the branches may have required a chainsaw Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Would be good to see before and after photos when you polish out the scratches, would be interested in what pads and compound you use

I have Dave to back me up, and Mrs Dave actually, twas more than a bit funny,

Doc my car had similar off roading bramble rash. I found the best cure is to ignore it for 3 years then trade it in, polish just masks it temporarily it soon returns. At work

All sorted now. The vast majority of the scratches have polished out completely. There are some minor scratches on the front wings that didn't come out entirely but you now have to go to point blank range and view from the right angle in order to see them.

In general the car looks like it just left the showroom and the paintwork is ultra smooth so no more off roading for a while. Just looking forward to the snow now.

For info, this is the place I went to: http://www.totalcarsolutionsderby.net

Right next to where I work so very convenient and an excellent job done Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I can agree with the good service at total car solutions. Although I haven't been to the new premises yet, I have had my previous car repaired or cosmetically treated two or three times. A sheet of chipboard fell on and dented the front wing, then in the icy conditions last winter I slid off a pile of ice while reversing down the drive. Managed to hook the wheelarch on the corner of the house. Half a stray clay pigeon put a nasty dent in the rear quarter panel. All sorted by Mark and his team.

Yeah, sorry, it must have been me firing from the hip in true 'Rooster Cogburn' style, it couldn't have been anyone else at the 'meet' cos they only went for the coffee judging by their scores Whistle
