FL2 Walnut Dashboard Trim Kit

Has anyone on here ever fitted one of these?

Just really trying to find out if they look ok, or do they look naff?

Naff, only real tree wood will do Thumbs Up

I imagine you mean this

Why anyone would (scuse pun) wish to make their dash look like their grandparents old sideboard is beyond me. It is a modern vehicle and bits of wood are not in keeping or needed.
I have seen on here some stainless steel pieces that were quite good and tasteful, personal choice I suppose.

I bought one! It's the one that is available officially for around £300 - £400. I paid £50 for the genuine OEM part, via eBay, direct from a dealer who was looking to off load some excess stock.

My wife and I are very partial to a bit of walnut. Even though we knew it wouldn't be the real thing, it is only slightly more convincing than Fablon! Shocked If I'd paid £400 I'd have been incensed!

Really, it's rubbish. Save your money...

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Baltic Blue

I bought the wooden trim bits in error on ebay last year, but it turned out not to fit my S model, due to the fact that the part of my dash that it would have replaced is not removable, the dash being all in one piece. Higher spec models have aluminium or wood trim that can be removed, and the bits I purchased are removed from such a spec. vehicle. If anyone is interested in it, it is stored in my attic. I'd like £20 for it if possible + postage. FL2 TD4 S Baltic Blue, with twin electrics and towbar, roofrails, luggage cover, spare wheel and mudflaps.

I have fitted the genuine LR item in my FL2. It is easy to fit. I was told by the dealer that it IS proper wood veneer which I guess it should be at the RRP. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Your LR dealer is being economical with the truth; it's plastic.

I thought it was standard with the car.
Do what trim do you get as standard then?

Thankfully my one had the silver inserts fitted which I like and goes well with the car.

Either smooth silver or pretend carbonfibre effect in silver too.

If you were wealthy enough to afford a supercharged Range Rover Autobiography, is it safe to assume the wood trim is the real deal? Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I was going to buy one too. But then luckily I saw another FL2 on a car lot that had the stick-on walnut dash - it looks AWFUL!!!!!
Definately made in China no matter who is flogging them!
Just bought the proper Stainless Steel door handles, mirror(top and bottom) and door strips - and they look mint! Very Happy
Just need to get some snazzy running boards for it now and job done!!

I think the fact that the dealer was trying to off load it for £50 tells you all you need to know! Rolling with laughter
Personal taste though I suppose.

Yes it is personal taste - each to their own etc..

Earlier this week I was in a friend's new Ford something estate car. It had on of those "brushed aluminium" fascia trims. I kid you not - the blinking sun was bouncing off the trim on the steering wheel reflective surfaces and as the front passenger, it was occasionally blinding me on our journey - very irritating.

A similar thing happen the other year when we went to Spain in her Ladyship's FL2. But it was the fake aluminium gear lever surround on the centre console that was reflecting the sun - into the driver's eyes. That had the potential to be very dangerous indeed. It was then that we considered LR's own "Walnut" Dash Kit. Unfortunately I managed to buy the LR one that is for RHD vehicles so will not fit her Laydship's LHD even if I did like it. So never used brand new f anyone wants it contact me.
