its the quality of the remap you should be looking at not just the price.

a cheap off the shelf one, or one that a company like BAS has tuned themselves to theirs specs from scratch

This is not a off the shelf product. You donwload your own cars ECU program and email it to them. They tune your program and send it in return to you.
This way all the programs in your ecu stay just like they were and the only thing changed is the boost and fuel\air mix\pressure (not sure). They also do a free upgrade if you have the car on service and they upgrade the OEM sw.

I don't know how BAS does the tune, but I don't think there is to many ways to reach the gain that both are talking about.? FL2, TD4 HSE

i know how the system works Smile

but is the retuned map, a boxed standard one they have bought and selling under their name, or one that they have developed themselves from scratch with a FL2 on a test bed Question

Not saying it will be bad, but some out there just pump up the value and ship-em-out

anyway each to there own and sure you did your home before putting something on your car Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i think the MY2011, D4/RRS need the ECU taking out to get past it, the 8speed D4/RRS is what he is working on at the moment, by the looks of his threads Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You are of course right. It was his recent post confirming he'd just managed to tune the new 8 speed D4 I was thinking about

I know you know how the system works npinks. Never doubted it Smile
I'm sure BAS has more expreience when it comes to LR so his product is most likely more of a match for our cars. I'm just not sure what the difference will be when the gains are the same depending on which program you choose.
Oh and I did my home. Wink FL2, TD4 HSE

Black smoke!

Hi guys!
I have used this box on my FL2 2007 - and yes, it is Italian (Alientech) Unfortunately I got to much black smoke when I put the "pedal to the metal" My first remapped file was 185PS, I complained and got a new one with unknown PS. The last one was a bit better, but still too much black smoke. Now I am back on the original 152PS
A bit disapointed about this, because on my FL1 (BMW M47R) there was newer any sign of black smoke.......
