Sometimes I have noticed the auto lights come on despite broad daylight and then the other night it was very cloudy and just starting to drop dark and they refused to come on so manual override was deployed.

Today, under bright sunlight this morning they came on and then after finishing work in bright sunlight they came on again. Driving head on into the sunlight and they simply refuse to accept it is light enough to switch off.

So, short of RTFM is there a reset procedure anyone knows of? If not I suspect a trip to the dealer will be necessary.

I agree that there are times when they come on in bright sunshine and other times when you'd expect them to come on and they don't.

No reset procedure that I'm aware of and I doubt a trip to the Dealer will be of much help other than to confirm that it is a characteristic of the vehicle.

Might be worth checking the sensor is clean and not covered by a dead bug/fly. Sensor is mounted on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror.

I'm using a new SD4 on Saturday and if I remember I'll see how its auto headlights behave.

With the sun been low in the morning and evening it can activate the lights to make you more visible , the was something 10forcash told me, and he know his LR's so I have no reason to doubt him
