On my 11my the rear socket is always live. The front one by gear stick is live when fob inserted and on/off switch pushed. Not necessary to start.

Agree NO braking. As for steering it was just instinct, probably as little as possible. Still recommend ATC or similar, should work even with burst tyre,as it brakes van to straighten up.

Well done! Another D2 defector.
You wont miss the rust on the D2 or costly injector repairs (if you ever needed them) but I do miss the low range, especially pushing around a caravan
