From what I have read so far, using spacers is not a good idea especially if you take you vehicle off-road. Too many problems and almost no benefits.

Something that I have only noticed recently when parking etc turning the steering wheel full lock I get a creaking noise coming from the front, anybody got any ideas?

I'd do light offroading but scratches would drive me crazy

There are too many dead bushes and trees in the trails so scratches are unavoidable

I don't have the receipts in front of me but I think the rims set me back $215/rim (yes, that is the LR price for steel rims).

With tax it is about $250 per a steel rim. I would call it extortion. ...
