Are you reversing on lock, and if so could it be transmission wind up. It shouldn't happen on a FL2, but I know it happens on some other 4x4 SUVs. I have witnessed it in my brother's Mercedes.

Thanks for the pointer but already checked those. Its definitely susension or drive related and a really loud crack. If it went crack crack crack etc I would say it sounds like a driveshaft maybe.

Its an Ebay special. They do two sizes. This is the larger one. I didn't want anything too conspicuous and this fitted the bill perfectly.

Because I didn't have time to stop it as it was over a weekend. Besides the DVLA says any overpayment will be repaid. I was just trying to warn people of the loophole but hey take it or leave it.
