Torque converter removed, reconditioned and refitted plus an oil change cost me £1,235. I thought that was quite reasonable, its a lot of work.

Sounds very much like the TC to me. I had the same symptoms diagnosed by a local Fedauto specialist. TC out, refurbished and refitted, no problems since.
 Air filter black and sticky at service, oil leak on engine.

I don't see how the two can be related. The air is drawn in from the wing, nowhere near your oil spill. The filter just looks to me as if it had a bit too long in situ. Was it changed within the las ...

I agree with Simon. It's nothing to do with the change of grill. It's either the gauge or the thermostat.

I am sure your issue is the fuel filter. I had exactly the same problem when towing. I now change the filter every year using a genuine item from Dan. Never had a problem since.
