The easiest way would be to see what the optional extras were available for the vehicle (spec,year etc) and check to see if they're fitted.

The gearbox adjusts to your driving style, you boot it it will change later, use the torque it changes sooner.
And of course you can drive it manually, just clutchless.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but if the module(s) need a constant live to keep working (properly?), why/how do they keep working after the battery has been disconnected
