Hi,
I'm looking at purchasing a torque wrench for fitting some side steps and other bits (over time).

I've just seen a Draper 3/8" drive 10Nm-80nm for around £23 delivered which seems good but will it be accurate???

I did consider a Teng at £47 but not sure which one to go for:
20Nm-110Nm
5Nm-25Nm

I'm guessing you'd need to buy both for

Does anyone have any experience of draper torque wrenches and are they accurate enough?

I would say accurate enough for home use. There's usually a tolerance with torque figures that are greater than any inaccuracies of non professional stuff.

I've got a non branded one from Screwfix that does the job admirably

I think the Draper one maybe the ticket although i am a bit of a brand snob i.e. Teng

You could always push the boat out and get a nice shiny Snap-on. Depends how accurately you want to measure your nuts

Teng is about all i could afford after Christmas and the purchase of the steps and rear spoiler

dont forget that tourque wrenches lose calibration the more they are used and you do get wha you pay for!

before i got my wrench from her majesty i used a permy marker maked th nut/bolt and the case undid and matched when re tighten bit rough but good enough for home work

Cheaper versions are fine for home use, just as accurate as top range but not suitable for everyday workshop use. All FL2's (3) Gone

If you didn't get a digital model, might I suggest that you always screw the handle back to zero when finished. This will help to keep it calibrated by not keeping the spring compressed constantly. Keep it in a protective box if it came with one. Dropping one is not good form. Send it back to the manufacturer for recalibration as recommended.

I second the Snap-On, but they are quite expensive. A mate of mine loaned me his Snap-On digital for an engine build. Absolutely the best piece of kit I've had the pleasure of using.
