Non OEM Brake pads, any worse/better?

Has anyone used any non OEM ones on their FL2, and if so can yo tell any difference form the originals?

If yes how do they 'feel' different?

TIA

Mike

Yep I did on my range rover oem front cheap on rear. Fronts squealed like bugery rear quite so I don't think it make a difference. Just how they are treated at the start of life on the car. I had to do an emergency stop with front newly fitted this completely knackdrd the pads and they were so noisy after that even took them off and scored them but didn't help. So ithink treat them with care innitialy it makes no odds

Not on FL2
About 3 years ago I fitted a set from Halfords on my FL1 on a Sunday, they failed the following Wednesday. Not a particularily cheap set - Mintex manufactured if I remember right.

By failed I mean on one trip the brakes got progressivly spongier until at one junction I failed to stop and sailed strait through. No-one coming and no trailer on the back. An hour later the pedal came back, brakes felt like trying to stop with wooden blocks instaed of friction material.
Drove to dealer that day, picked up a set of discs and pads, wouldn't fit any other make.

Not really looking to save money 'per se'

Was also wondering if anyone had fitted 'performance ones' eg. EBC ones, and whether they improved pedal feel/bite

Just had a set of Bosch pads fitted by Kwik Fit on the rear of the car a couple of months ago. They feel and perform the same as the originals.

Original pads lasted 43K miles before they pads started separating from the plates and causing a grinding issue.

Original fronts still have plenty of life in them.

I have found that the OEM pads are excellent, and as I got 39000 miles out of my original discs and pads, I had them all replaced with OEM parts again.

The technician said the discs and pads may have got another 3-4000 miles out of them. But as I was off to france on Holiday I wanted them changed. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
