OEM Protective Side Strips - any good?

Hi, I searched for previous posts (thought I had seen one) but could not find!
My FR2 has suffered badly from car park chips from others opening doors, Downside of having a 6ft wide car, I try and park away from other vehicles but not always possible! quite serious scratches and one 'ding'
I am thinking about trading in for a newer version and wondered if the protective strips would help prevent this?
Many thanks to all who respond!

Had them on both mine. 07 SE didn't have a mark on it after 3 1/2 years use. 11 XS still too new to comment but in my opinion well worth the money. Check my gallery - you can just about see them.

Likewise - I think they are worthwhile but they are not cheap.

They were easy to put on and look great, but as I said they are pricey.

I'm interested, so are we talking LR parts or is there an alternative supplier? and what is the price?

Matt,

The black plastic strip halfway down the door, well worth it imo. A word of warning though, don't try to fit them when it's cold, the glue will not stick very well.

Sorry, me again.....Found them on ebay, £110 inc delivery which is not much different to the dealers price. Question is about fitting, is it double sided tape? and is it easy to locate them in the correct position? they appear to fit over the crease in the doors. Can someone kindly measure the depth for me. I need to see if by fitting I will cover up any of the existing marks on the paint....pre trade-in
Many thanks

Iain, when you get them you will receive a sheet of instructions and it will all become clear, you will need to fit them on a warm day (Ha Ha) if poss, keep them flat in a warm room overnight prior to fitting and have a Hair Dryer to hand to warm the door where thay are to be fitted and to help the final fitting, a soft pencil or a dry marker will be useful. Yes 3m sticky tape the kit should include the cleaning wipes to prep the door prior to fitting also. Thumbs Up

Many thanks Ad****** Any clues on the depth, top to bottom? It will be a clever ruse to achive a good price on exchange, which will not work if the strips do not cover the damage. Morally ok as the strips will be permanent! Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
