No I would not. Because I normally sell (px at 23 months) avoiding the costly Land Rover second service.

My last D3 came with a quote of £1400 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd service. No thanks, sold it at 23 months.

With my FL2 I was not offered anything, but no problem as I expected to be bored at 23 months and looking for something else from Land Rover as all my D3 mates predicted.

Well I’m not bored and the FL2 is great and will be kept until it out lives my first D1 which means 2020.

So to the servicing question?

there is a LR approved option that would not affect your warranty that i do believe would cost less than that..

What's on offer in Switzerland

Over here a new FL2 currently comes with a 3yr or 100,000kms warranty + LR Assistance + 3yr (100.000kms) servicing package that includes all consumables except tyres.

For years 4 & 5 you can buy a "LR Premium Warranty" for approximately UK£600 per year which will include all the above products - if -a) you've not already exceeded the 100,000 kms limit, b) you had your FL2 serviced on schedule and at an official LR service centre, and c) you purchase the LR PW within 3 months or no more than 6,000 kms after its 3rd year service.

Under LR PW you will have to pay the first UK£100 of any costs that occur, and, the maximum value of any warranty claim is limited according to kms travelled, so you will have to additionally fund: >60k 0%, >70k 10%, >80k 20%, >90k 30%, >100k 40%, over 100k kms travelled 50% of each and every invoice.

Given the cost of labour and LR parts here in CH these current rates actually represent a good "insurance" risk premium. But, who knows what the rates will be in Q4 2012 when we will need to make that decision.
