JD Power survey 2010 - SUVs

From What Car Website

http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/jd-power-survey-2010/suvs/250115

Land Rover Freelander

Vehicle owner satisfaction score 77.9%
Overall 71st
The Freelander ends up second from bottom in this class due to the number of complaints owners had over running costs. It was the fuel consumption more than anything else that dragged the car down the rankings, but grumbles over high bills for repairs and insurance also did their bit.

Freelander drivers were otherwise a pretty happy bunch. The driving experience delighted, as did the service from dealerships and styling, while owners also praised the car's mechanical reliability.

Yeah I saw that. I don't rate the JD Power survey that much these days and my opinion was reinforced by the fact the Lexus RX came first, closely followed by the Honda CRV Shocked They may be reliable, but they are also ugly pieces of s Censored t.

Like I've said before, if you want economy and cheap running costs, don't buy an off roader. The Lexus and CRV's are no off roaders, and I don't think most of those in the survey should be compared with the Freelander. Don't forget also the people that reply.

I was "invited" to enter the JD Power survey for my Smax. I didn't bother. Nothing wrong with it, great car. Now then, Honda CRV.... If you ever meet anyone that drives one, they nearly always have to justify it with facts about reliability, blah, blah..... I have never heard, Well I just love it, it is so much fun to drive.

And hang on, dragged down due to running costs. Well it is no secret! The published fuel economy figures are less than the competition. Duh! Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Lexus RX no.1? A neighbour of mine has that car, and it looks allright, but everytime I see it, I think to myself:
Will that car get ahead in the deep snow, crawling up the mountainside in deep snow & ice like my FL2 will?
Somehow I doubt that. Dont know why though.....

I have had my FL2 for 2,5 years now, and I am still very happy with it. I cant see myself want to change my FL2 for any of the cars in that test. Thumbs Up 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

the trouble with a satisfaction survey is that it measures the performance against the expectation of the owners.

So a rubbish car can do well if the owners expect it to be rubbish. Hence the reason Skoda was consistently in the top five because they were cheap and reliable and if a switch fell out the owner just popped it back in and put up with the fact that the heated rear screen never worked etc etc it still stared in the morning and got him to work.

How many SUV owners want/use/care about the 4x4 capabilities of their vehicles. And as for Honda drivers most are retirees who do little mileage at low speeds, of course their vehicles are going to be more reliable after three years they have only done the mileage of a years average use.

Mark Twain said that, and I believe he said: There are white lies, black lies, and statistics. -In that order.

But who knows what he really said. I wasn't around when he said it. Laughing 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

I'm a fan of statistics. I'm sure the two people who bought the Lexus and the CRV have found them to be extremely reliable Very Happy Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass
