Sony Radio to Replace Original CD Radio in Si6

]For months I have had issues with FM stations dropping out after thirty seconds, then my new iPhone 12 refused to connect to the audio system. Originally it was thought that the problem was the aerial amplifier but it turns out that that was fine. There was a problem with the radio itself. AM stations worked fine.

I had finally had enough and got a Sony radio fitted. A separate, reversing camera was also installed at the top of the tailgate.

The radio is simple to set stations, room for a USB for albums I like, in order to compensate for the loss of my CD player.

Hopefully the photo I have uploaded will show you what it looks like. This Sony unit only connects with I phones, not androids.

I was originally advised by the auto supplier that the replacement Sony unit would be all touch screen and I would lose steering wheel controls for audio and phone answering etc and I was given a price for that.

It seems that the installer had other ideas and decided that everything needed to work from the steering wheel (as well as touch screen) rang me saying a part they had ordered wouldn't do the job and another bit would work but it would cost me considerably more.

Not happy but I agreed.

Anyway, in the end, I really like the job the job they did. I put the car in on Wednesday morning and never got it back until Friday afternoon, because of issues they discovered doing the job.

Hope this helps if anyone else is having issues with their audio system.

One thing I did learn is that all reversing cameras are not equal. Some cheaper lenses cloud up after longer term exposure to sunshine.

Over the "too many" decades of all the electronic bits I have bought Sony is the singular brand that has lasted. So it is cheaper in the long run. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
