Lubrication of door actuators

I have an intermittent problem with locking a couple of my doors...the dreaded door actuators perhaps. It doesn't fail all the time though. It is almost as if the black bit of the interior door latch isn't travelling quite enough to lock the door, if I lock the door with the window open and press the black lever a few mm's it locks. Is there any place to lubricate the system so this moves more freely, or is it just a sign that I need to replace the whole actuator?

Hi,
there is no real way to lube the actuator if its the little motor inside the actuator itself thats not giving the full movement.

replace either just that motor with the worm drive gear or swop the whole actuator.

There are a few good threads how to do each door depending which ones of yours need doing.

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

I tried the lubrication route without success. Fitted new actuator in the end, a real pain to do, near side rear door now playing up but I think I can live with that as I don't use that door often.

Thanks for the link to all the door lock posts. I have, of course, looked through all of these - but couldn't find a reference to lubrication, which was my specific question. I have tried some spray grease on the lever, and it does seem to have cured it for now...we will see. Thanks for all the helpful replies.

As per your specific question - it's just a sign that you need to replace the whole actuator.
Like you've said, we will see... Very Happy

I've got the same problem on my passenger door. On most warm/hot days during the summer it works fine, but on cooler days I have to manually push the lever after opening the drivers door, and can then get out and lock the car.

Pressing the lock button several times also locks it with the lock lever moving a little more with each press. Steve

Wet weather seems to have sorted the passenger rear door. Can't think of any other reason why its decided to start working again.
