If you've taken the screws out the only thing holding it are the trim clips. I pulled mine from the window side, pulling down with a sharp strong guy. the clips are quite strong and a tug seems to work better than just pulling. Be prepared for breaking some as well. I had to get some new ones.

@SYFL2, got the powerfulUK website and locate their switch, they have a video I believe on how to replace the switch or it's a video of replacing the cargo door handle..........it will show you how to remove the trim. A trim tool also helps |

If you grab it by the interior pull handle and pull it sharply it should just pop off without a trim tool. |

As Snappa said a good and I mean a really good tug on the handles with her indoors holding the outside of the tailgate so it didn’t hit me in the face and off it came. All sorted now and the paint cleaned up where the handle goes. All 10mm nuts were easy to undo and I even overcame the confusing problem of an extra cable on the new switch I’ve been meaning to do the high level brake light that has developed a bit of a drip and had a look at that, was going to silicone it but decided to have a look on EBay for a seal found one about £6:50 it says it’s 1mm thicker than the original so I’ve ordered that and will sort that. Thanks once again for the input it really is appreciated |

Oh yes put some small rubber washers on with the bolts so it doesn’t rub the paint it had done in a couple of places where the previous rubbery stuff had disintegrated. |

Exactly how I did mine. Couldn't be bothered with all that stripping bits off inside. |

The new gasket arrived very quickly so I’ve cleaned up the light unit and the body work and fitted that this morning put a new bulb in just because I had a couple of them. Managed to break a trim clip putting the inside trim back so it was back on EBay for a pack of 20. |

^^^^^When you get around to replacing the retaining clip, run a bead of water resistant silicone grease on and around the gasket and don't worry about it again ! |

Yes the gasket had an instruction sheet with it and said smear a layer of petroleum jelly on the gasket so did that |
