United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Orkney Grey

I bit the bullet and bought a new light. No more problems. I spent many hours trying all sorts of other fixes, none of which worked.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Did the same 4 years ago. Worked fine till last week when it started leaking again. Will be trying some of the suggestions on here before paying for yet another replacement light unit!

I am surprised by just how much "slack" there is now and how much the light unit moves compared to when it was first fitted, clearly the foam shrinks over time.

Canada 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

I bought the replacement rubber gasket from a UK Ebay seller and installed it a few weeks back. My light never actually leaked from rain at all but leaked if I washed it with a pressure washer but only if I aimed the nozzle up and at the light fixture (that specific angle). Problem is now solved with the new gasket.

It was also recommended by the seller to use vaseline on the installed gasket. I think the key is exactly where the gasket is placed especially along the top of the high mount light as if you clean it well you can actually see where it should go. The vaseline helps to condition the rubber and I use it also on all the door gaskets as well to help avoid the doors freezing to the frame. That's a constant problem in Canada during winter if the weather hangs around the zero mark.
