Been having issues with my lights on automatic NOT turning off again.
I checked the sensor by removing the mirror assembly and found what can only be described as a glue like substance on the glass. This means that as light travels thru the glass towards the sensors in the circuit board they have to pass thru this glue like substance. I’m wondering if it was as a result of a replacement wind screen before I owned the car or is it supposed to be there in the first place. Can anyone confirm whether there should or should not be anything in the way of light penetrating thru the glass to the sensor. 2007 2.2 GS Td4

Some BMW’s have problems with leaking Gell from mirrors that control functions. Pretty sure you will need a compatible mirror. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I find that when on auto, the lights will come on just driving through a shadow. They will then stay on unless you drive into direct sunlight. I had a trickle of the gel down the screen some months ago & it has made no difference to how the lights react.
