See my post above yours, Yorky Bob. You seem to only be able to buy it in 1 litre bottles. You can buy it on eBay or Amazon but it’s over £15/litre. Buying from the link I posted, you can get it from Germany at £7/litre plus £8 postage. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Got some cheap top quality Castrol Merc oil a few years back way below normal price and on next day dleivery.

Only once it was on its way did I go on line to see the route and expected delivery time. Flown from Dublin to Thiefrow and then couried on from London to Yorkshire. Make sense of that if you can.

Will be sticking with my Millers Yorkshire oil from now on even it comes via Frankfurt. Shocked FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thought I might jump in on this thread.

I can get a C4 oil for DPF vehicles, the packaging suggests it is suitable to provide more wear protection for engines where C1 is recommended. Even says suitable for some Land Rover vehicles.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Jeff

Haha thanks Yorky. What's the diff between C1 and C4 if they are both suitable for DPF?

Interesting article, but not particularly helpful.

The article confirms that the digit doesn't indicate better or worse, later or earlier spec.

I can get low SAPS C4 for less dollars than C1. One of them is ultra-low SAPS, I can't recall which is which now.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks yorky.

If it not a known brand and very cheap give I would it a miss. Pre DPF cars can run on more regular oils (especially if you ignore the extended miles claims by LR between about oil changes) but later DPF cars should use C1 oil and I would still suggest not going the to silly miles that LR claim. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Yes that oil is fine but why pay £45 when you can get Millers C1 on eBay for under £30

Says it’s C1 so its meeting the spec. Would I buy it, probably not as I can find Millers C1 at a good price usually and they were the first to challenge Castrols stranglehold of the C1 market in cahoots with Land Rover. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Quite so....
No offense, but one pays over £2000 in fuel in between oil changes and is picky about the price of oil...
Why £45 when you can get it for £30?... That thing that should protect and keep in top shape your engine, no matter the driving habit.
The same with the timing belts, tires, braking parts and so on... You know, the safety things and stuff.
Which by the way, they are less often changed, but again, the cheaper the better...

Alex this may not convert across but there is a saying in UK.

Never mind the quality

...feel the width. Phrase used to persuade you that quantity is more important than quality. Originated from unscrupulous London backstreet tailors palming you off with cheap material instead of the good stuff for your suit. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
