Experience Day Cars

Does anyone know if Land Rover keep a record of their experience day cars?

From my experience, most are white.

Is this common throughout country?

I asked the instructor about my Metropolis, as it was white, had a low mileage, was first owned by the company and was serviced near Eastnor Castle.
He said that it was very unlikely that a Metro was used, as they are normally mid-trim models kitted up with the bits necessary to do the off-road experience. i.e. cameras, wheels, transmission, etc. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

I think that is true of the later ones, but when I went a few years back they were all silver. I know Experience Cars were generally sent to auction rather than sold through main dealers for obvious reasons. I am finding a few of the cars I have looked at are coming up with a Land Rover Management service stamp (or something like that) at an address in Northamptonshire rather than a main dealer service stamp. I wondered if they were experience cars. I am not sure I would want to buy one of those!

Having been on an experience day (which is basically just a demo of hill descent control) my guess is that they will have been driven slowly around a not too demanding off road track and probably hardly ever in a high gear. The ones I saw were all white and I was told that they get replaced every 3 months.
A few years ago my son (who is an agronomist and does a lot of off road driving around farms) went on the Honiton track and reckoned that a saloon car would have got around most of it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Cheers for that Dorset. I am looking at a silver one at the moment. It has had a new diff and new rear bearing on the drivers side. One owner after Land Rover who look like they had it for 2 years. It is a HSE so maybe a managers car.

They were all silver when I did mine at Skipton a couple of years ago. and they were all HSE or equivalent spec.

I drove the FFRR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 with all the toys as I knew I would never own one and wanted to play Very Happy

Don’t think LR do. They sell them as ex demo cars so less said about being an LRE vehicle the better . MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

All white in colour these days, preferred the Silver ones myself.
You can often tell an ex LRE car, colour and spec if one way and the area it was registered seems to be another (or at least used to be).
I'd have no issues in buying an Ex LRE car as long as it was a general use one (seems to be all apart from D4s or Defenders) as they spend their time being driven quite gently (in most cases) with an instructor in the car and always cleaned and services and generally looked after.
The only exceptions would be for those that where used on the more demanding courses - (Defenders and D4s generally, often with winches , drove one hard myself some years ago an a night drive at Eastnor. And even then while worked hard they are well looked after and I was told by an instructor some time ago that once they are finished with at LRE they get a full going over to check them and fix all issues before being sold on.

Cheers smallmankey. I have bought it-the price was good for the age and mileage and I couldn't see any off road damage.Your comments reassured me it was worth the risk. I have viewed so many bad ones that I decided this was worth a punt. Really looking forwards to being a Freelander owner again.
