First problem sounds like a dragging clutch - intermittently dragging usually means there is an obstruction under the clutch fingers preventing full disengagement. I’ve had that a few times over the years on various jobs I’ve done and it was always a coil spring from the centre plate that had broken free and was floating about. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Many cars will baulk selecting gears without the engine spinning, its common enough.

Quality part will have a 12 month warranty, so if its less than 12 months roll it back to the people who changed the clutch. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The clutch is hydraulic with no direct electrical influences over its operation, thus as said above you may have two separate problems. It's possible just stopping and restarting the engine (and thus stopping and restarting spinning components in the clutch system) is having some effect. Note that the clutch shares a hydraulic reservoir with the brake system, so check the level of hydraulic fluid as low fluid could affect both clutch and braking systems, as could air in the hydraulic lines. |
