Electronic park break

So, got my "MY13" today, it's an auto box but can't seem to get my head round the electronic parking break.

Ok, ok my last car with one fitted, it auto came on when you went static and hold the foot break for a short period of time, you. Ever needed to touch it, went you plugged in your setbelt, it went off, same when you went static at light, it auto held the car allowing you to remove your foot off the foot break. This one, when static at light, take your foot off the fooot break and the car just starts moving. I am missing something?

It's released automatically when you press the accelerator and will auto hold on an incline but remains inactive when just stopped on the flat.

Thank you. So no need to take it off, just start, gear shift to drive, foot down and go? And if say on a incline at a set of lights, it will auto hold allowing you take your foot off the foot break?

I only know as I once worked in the trade and would have had my ass kicked as an apprentice, I can't write without spellcheck. Interestingly I picked this up with a sale manager in York BMW years ago with it written up on the new car spec as in ceramic brakes spelt breaks. Still the same days later and at that level its and own goal having been informed, but they were a set of charlatans and thief's (not slanderous as they had to give me a brand new car after trying the shaft me with a load of tat (at then £35K) described as new that was not). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

And if you want a quick getaway at the lights, apply electric handbrake (launch control) manually as the gearbox disengages "neural functioning" and selects first gear!
