Trying to fit 2013 leather memory seats on a 2008. Need help

As the title reads i'm trying to fit 2013 seats. I followed instructions mainly from Jim NI and I managed to fit the passenger's side and the electric positioning is working perfectly (I don't care for heated seats). The driver's side has the memory 1,2,3 option (I don't care for it either) and lumbar support. I connected 2 twisted pairs to the canbus (orange-grey orange purple) as well as a switched power, constant and ground but only the lumbar support is working and only forwards.

Can anybody tell me what I might be doing wrong please? Any help would be much appreciated.

I think your problem is that there is two types of electric seat, those without memory and those with. If you have the seats with the controls for memory seats then it will need to be used in conjunction with the memory module which should be under the seat. MY15

The driver's side has memory and there seems to be a module under the seat. how do I use it?

The 2013 seats have a completely different set of seat module ecu' which are not exchangeable for the earlier seats,I know I tried it the other way around,as the 2012 seats I purchased I tried to get programmed which would not work as later cars have a different electrical system. Sad l do have a set of earlier seats for sale but see your not exactly local!

Is there a way to make just the electric seat positioning work?

Like yours my passenger seat worked as it should, the drivers seat worked in as much that if you toggled the switches the seats would move an inch or two each toggle, the memory did not work at all which was no problem,it might be you have to source a pre 13 model year loom and ecu to make it work as it should!

If I understand this correctly all the hardware is present in the seat itself. Is there a possible way to modify the wiring to bypass the ecu and just have the electric seats working?

Should be possible, but it'll be a headache if you don't have the wiring diagrams for the car...

So here you can download them... Freelander 2 Electrical Circuits.pdf 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Thanks buddy, I'll see if I can figure something out but knowing this thing has an airbag in it makes me very weary cause I'm no electrical engineer. Would be extremely grateful if someone more proficient than I would be willing to give me some pointers...

first question that comes to mind is what does the canbus exactly do to the memory control module? can it be bypassed in anyway?

or maybe just bypass the memory module altogether or the relays for the motors are all in the module?

You should find a drivers seat switch pack from a non-memory car (from a breaker I guess) and then wire the seat up as a non-memory seat. Get rid of the memory switch pack and memory module complelely.

The motors are the same between a memory and non-memory seat, you just need to get the wiring that goes from the motors to the non-memory switch pack.

Page's 94 & 95 in the wiring diagrams show the difference between the memory and non-memory seat setup.

The memory function seat will not work without it being setup in the vehicles software. And there might also be compatibility issues between model years. It needs the CANBus to talk to the other modules in the car related to the memory functions. Long and complicated story, but this is the reason it's not working for you. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

If all else fails and you still want leather, you can always transplant the foam/upholstered sections onto your original seat bases and just use them manually. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

I'm going to try and find a non memory switch pack and bypass the module as suggested and if I don't find one I will modify and use the switch pack I have.

I had a good look at the switch pack I have (hoping to solder the terminals of the motors but they do not look like they will be able to handle the current directly (am I right?) so I will have to use 12v DPCO relays because I think that is the only way to do it safely.

I think 5amp 12vdc DPCO relays should work....

Last week I have tried to install the seat memory pack from a MY07 model to my MY15 (my MY15 has electric seats). I have taken all the bits from the MY07 seat (module, harness, motors) and activated the option with SDD but now the seat works only in hops and no memory function. From what I understand reading this topic there is a compatibility issue with the seat memory module.
Could you help me with a part number for the MY13 onwards part number? Also, if someone has got an MY13+ for sale I would be interested.
Thanks guys!

Tell me what you need I still have some parts. In my case I ended up making my own switch pack and fitting it under the new ones. Very very tedious job and the memory function does not work since I bypassed the module but I don't need that anyway
