Dodgy earth on that light unit or a loose bulb in its socket will cause a bulb to blow prematurely? |

So I found the problem. The bulb had blown again. When I took it out I noticed it was burnt on one of the contacts. I cleaned the spring and pulled it up a bit using a screwdriver so it was pushing against the bulb more. Not blown since......touch wood. |
