rear brake light bulb keeps blowing

I've had this freelander 2 2007 XS for a month and already had to replace 2 bulbs in the rear driver side. This happened pretty much a day after it was fitted. It went in for a service and brought it to the attention of the mechanics and they said yes the bulb had blown again but can't see anything wrong. They did mention that it happens on the discovery 3 but again they have never found the cause. Has anyone come across this problem? Or shall I start buying brake bulbs in bulk.

Dodgy earth on that light unit or a loose bulb in its socket will cause a bulb to blow prematurely?

So I found the problem. The bulb had blown again. When I took it out I noticed it was burnt on one of the contacts. I cleaned the spring and pulled it up a bit using a screwdriver so it was pushing against the bulb more. Not blown since......touch wood.
