Well due to the wonderful high quality work of the Norfolk Highways Agency spreading chipping's and very little tar on our roads I know have a fairly large chip in the center of my windscreen, spoke to Hastings Insurance today and they put me onto there approved repairer Auto Windscreens. Spend a while explaining to the guy there and he said they should be able to repair the chip subject to seeing it, however If not a new screen will be the order of the day. Apparently though it will not be a genuine LR one just a pattern copy! Phoned back Hastings Insurance and they told me the same and that was all my fully comp insurance was entitled to

If you have a heated front screen then only buy a genuine Land Rover replacement, the aftermarket ones of that type tend to be a bit unreliable in service as far as the heating elements go. |

I had a screen in my old Freelander 2, and because it was an OE screen it was replaced with an OE screen. Auto glass also told me that the cost of the OE screen was not that much different to a copy and therefore didn't need to get the insurance to authorise it. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

Had similar experience with our Merc C Class, Royal Bank insurance sent car to Mercedes approved repairer, repairs were for storm damage, who in their literature stated "only genuine manufacturers parts used"

The insurance-nominated guy from Glassline who fitted my replacement pointed out that it is a Pilkington screen and identical to the factory fit apart from the lack of a Land Rover screen printed oval logo that only goes on the screens supplied to the factory.
