Live life on the edge Laughing

You won't be disappointed with the car, if you like it in the photos then you'll love it in the flesh. Make sure your dealer signs you up for a ride & drive event, if they do it overseas.

I don't know what most dealers take as a deposit, but mine only took £500 (refundable) from me, the rest on collection. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Well I would have brought another Freelander if it had a little more boot space (check) and a little more rear legroom (check). Add in more modern styling, 9 speed auto, better fuel economy and a bunch of other goodies and I'm feeling pretty happy.

BMW X3 defeats the new Discovery Sport

http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/land-rover...60/1325109

A comfortable victory for the BMW apparently. Not the sort of press LR would like I suspect. Confused

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I am going to put my opinions across and it will upset a few members.

I got bored by page 11 of this thread by all the Negativity about a new model and the slagging off of LR and the claims that they are losing sight of what they are doing.

To those who think this way, Censored off and buy another brand of car.

A) LR get ripped apart in the press that their technology is not up to scratch - So they do something about it and you still slate them.

B) The price and spec of the DS has been slated for alienating FL2 customers - You haven't given them a chance to release the whole range yet. When they do the DS starting point will only be a few £000 higher than the freelander 2, bringing into line with the competition.

C) 5 years servicing for £499 - Haven't heard many slagging that off yet. Oh of course you won't.

D) There is a smaller Discovery coming out which will be a little smaller than the current FL2, with prices possibly starting from around the £20k mark. So this should make some FL2 customers happy. But you'll find an excuse to slate that as well.

E) When Ford owned LR, they almost destroyed it from penny pinching and the way they ran the business. (senior LR employees statement, not mine).

F) Tata have given JLR the money they need to build a modern, reliable range of vehicles which people want to buy. Without interfering with the everyday running of the business.

G) Have many of you actually seen the DS before making comment? Probably not.

H) Have any of you driven the DS before passing comment? Probably not, but I have driven two of them now and they get the thumbs up from me in every area.

I) For Censored sake, get over the 7 seat issue. Your acting like your paying extra for a feature you don't want. It is standard so get over it. It doesn't effect the DS in any way shape or form.

J) If LR stayed the way they were 10 years ago, you would all still complain. So when they do improve, the slagging off still happens.

I am not apologising if this sounds harsh, but I bet anything that within the next three years, many of you will be DS owners. I have seen it all before, some can't afford the new car and their is nothing wrong in that, we all are in different situations. But these are the type of people who slate a new car because it is out of reach and they feel they will be left behind.

When you see the time and money spent behind the scenes, JLR should be congratulated for what they have achieved over the past few years.

As for those who question the business plan of JLR, clearly you are clueless. Because when you see the output of the factories and the order books, they must be doi it wrong!

Remember, the new people to the LR brand allow JLR to develop new models for us all to enjoy. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I can't wait to see the baby disco when it comes out. If it's FL1 size that would be just right for me.

From what I have been told from within JLR, it will be maybe a little bigger than FL1 but a smaller than FL2. But it will be a proper LR and not a road use only car.

FWD will of course be an option as these models are important to LR as they help to lower the overall C02 levels for the company. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Is that CO2 averaging across the range process the reason why most manufacturers also sell branded push bikes?
