To update.... I am back from this fantastic event tonight at JLR's Private Dealer Showroom at Dunton Park.

The Hospitality was superb, and ignoring most of the Dealership Staff varying from Guy Salmon/Stratstone/Marshalls etc etc, I spent most of the night talking to members of the Events Team, and one gentleman in particular from the original Design Team at Gaydon, who was on hand to answer the many questions that I had from a Technical perspective.

Naturally, I have taken plenty of images, and will update this thread tomorrow once I have had a chance to sift and sort them. It doesn't help that iOS 8 won't load them directly, so I am going to have to paste the IMG Code from Photobucket, which may take some time.

What I WILL share with you tonight, however, is that the "Curry Hook" found in the passenger footwell of the Disco 2/3 has made a renaissance. See below:

Given the size of the file, and not wishing to chew up Martin's Server space, I have added all the images that I took last night to Flickr.

The link below should (hopefully) be able to be viewed by any of you.

Enjoy!! Very Happy

Excellent pics, thanks.

1) Was it noticeably smaller in height externally than the FL2
2) Was the drivers seating position lower in height than the FL2
3) Did you notice if the sat-nav mapping was better than our MY13 models.

EY,

1) It looks lower to the ground, hence I don't feel that this one needs side steps. However, it is a bit of an optical illusion, as they assured me that it was because it was on 19" wheels, as opposed to 20" that it just appeared to be lower.

2) No noticeable difference with the "command view" of the FL2. What I will say though is that given that it has a masssive panoramic sunroof a la Evoque, again it creates an illusion of more space. It might be different with the electric sunshade drawn, but as it wasn't connected up, I can only speculate.

3) One of the HSE "Black Pack" models was connected up - the Sat Nav is completely different, and the same as the one found in both the XE and F-Type Jaguar. A lot more intuitive, clearer, and easier to use overall - they should have had this back in 2012 IMHO. Interestingly, the centre screen now controls the climate control/heated seats as well as Telephone/TV/4x4 Info.

Its not ever going to be a "Land Rover" like the die-hards remember, and yes, the emphasis is on a more premium up-market feel, rather like a Range Rover. However, looking at some of the demo videos on the plasma screens, its more than capable when put through its paces, and can behave just like a proper Landy.

My name is down to drive the Demo model being delivered to my local Dealership in January 2015 - its going to be a very long wait until then! Foraging near Gaydon....

Only the current Engine (SD4), and the fact that the Sunroof no longer opens. Other than that, it's a great looking, classy bit of kit.

BTW, I overheard a S***stone 'salesman' talking to a potential customer.....not sure what the question was, but his answer was "they're really well screwed together" Rolling with laughter

Nothing like a comment like that to make you want to open your chequebook to the tune of £50k is there .....NOT!

The 'curry hook' has been a recent discussion topic on here, as apparently it was prevalent on early Disco's... Foraging near Gaydon....
