Terrain Response - What's it like without it?

Looking at a FL2 Auto, S model. Very good price but see it has no TR only standard Traction Control. Does it make a huge difference off-road folks?

Anyone have experience of both?

i don't have experience with out TR, but if you want to meet at Tong and drive around without using TR let me know, and then with I'm sure it should give you a good idea.

But mine is a manual not a auto Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Cheers for the offer.

Do you notice a big difference in how it responds with TR on?

My fl1 only had traction control but off-roaded well enough. But it had less power so the traction control had less work to do Rolling Eyes At work

I could well be wrong here but, while I was in lookers Colchester they had some export "s" models in, it sure looked like they were retro fitting TR. The Fl2's were heading for the Russian market.

I have an S and it works great off-road. I miss the low box from my Defender but it does work pretty damned well. I'd say go for better tyres rather than worry about the gizmo box.

Took the plunge and placed an order.

On the shopping list are some all-terrain tyres, mantec underbody protection and possibly the Matzker lift kit although I have some concerns about warranty issues with that.

Thumbs Up

Stornoway of course Cool

Should land late this week or early next, plumped for the Auto, really wanted a GS but was offered such a silly cheap deal on an S that I had to go for it. Will be looking for some nicer GS alloys and will be retro-fitting cruise control and maybe Terrain Response if the wiring is in-situ.

Also got a great number plate FL02 MUD Very Happy

Nice number plate!!!

I havent been off road but my control box broke and was without any TR for a couple of weeks. The car felt no different.

The only time I use the TR anyway is in sand mode when I want to race boy racers in their Novas from traffic lights Wink

Must say the cruise control is a nice option though if you can retro fit.

I don't think TR will make much difference at all, only thing it might do is retard the throttle a little to improve control in tricky sections, also might affect the Haldex unit too and improve response to wheelspin. My Defender has no traction control etc and is perfectly fine so I think it is a bit of a gimmick on the FL2 TBH.

I retro-fitted the Cruise to my D3 by simply adding the buttons to the steering wheel Shocked Some cars need the ECU programming but I didn't. Will 'suck-it-and-see' on the FL2 once it arrives.

I have previously spoke to Iain (TFC) on the cruise control, he was sure it would able to be added, and the speaker control buttons too should be able to be added. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The radio buttons work with no programming etc.

As you say, Iain can do the CC.
