Advice please for oil spec for my FL2 i6 3.2

Hi, can anyone please advise me definitively whether it is essential to use the recommended 0w-30 oil specified in the manual ie Castrol edge conforming to A5/B5 ACEA specs OR would it be 100% OK to use a 5w-30 oil such as mobil 1 with a B4 spec

Main reason for asking is the cost and availability. 0w-30 Castrol is approx. £90 for 8 litres verses Mobil 1 5w-30 fully synthetic for £60 for 8 litres

Hoping someone with better knowledge can give me a simple yes or no please
thanks

In Australia the Castrol oil specified by Land Rover for the i6 is unobtainable except as 20 litre packs, effectively meaning you can not obtain top up 1 litre, 2 litre or even 5 litre packs. My i6 has always been serviced by Land Rover dealerships and it has never had the Land Rover specified oil supplied; the most commonly used has been Castrol Magnatec 5w-30w. I checked with a number of Land Rover Dealerships in New South Wales and Victoria when I first got the car, but none of them used, or had, the specified Castrol oil.
My i6 has now covered 154000 kms (97000 miles) and the engine has given no trouble whatsoever in temperatures ranging from 3 degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius and rarely requires topping up between services, which are at every 12000 kms (7500 miles) here.
I believe from that that the oil specification is not hyper critical, although I would use the Land Rover standard if it were used by their Dealerships.

Thanks egipp that's reassuring
I can get magnatec very cheap in the uk, and is cheaper than my normal favourite Mobil 1
The only thing bothering me, which I don't know the answer to is in the uk we have much colder weather up to -15 so if I used 5w-30 would this mean that the oil wouldn't get around the engine quick enough when it was viscous upon start up. Or is there no problem?
Is 5w-30 thinner or thicker viscosity than 0w-30?
Any one in Uk using 5w-30 in their i6?

I did a full oil and filter change in my I6 the other month and spent about £90 on 8 lts of EDGE oil, i think when it comes down to oil get the best there is, its better than a broken car and only saving 20 or £30 quid I6 WITH GAS CONVERSION

Thanks again can I ask the exact spec of the EDGE oil you used and where you sourced it from

Costco have EDGE titanium 0w-30 for £30 per 4l but it only gives a rating of b4 rather than the B5 ACAE recommendation?

Ordered it, and hope it's the biz, certainly cheapest about, seller selling plenty of other brands/weights of oil so looks good
Whilst more than capable of servicing myself it's purely to give the full service kit to a mechanic friend so he can stamp the book as a vat registered garage to maintain my 2 year warranty wise policy. Takes the fun out of ownership, when you can't self service but having had a D3 I wouldn't run a landy without a fully comp warranty.

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!
