2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Strange Door Problem

57 HSE The front passenger door works as it should apart from when the auto lock kicks in around 8 mph, after that you can't open the door from inside with the door lever, you have to press the unlock on the dash or flick the switch above my door lever. If just sitting in the car i can lock and double lock the car by the fob or dash switches and the door will open with the lever it's only after the auto lock operates the problem happens. I know the auto lock can be disabled by dealer but would like it as it should be,any ideas welcome.

Mine is the same, the only way to open the passengers door is as you describe or open the drivers door first, thought that was how it was supposed to work. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

Inablity to open the passenger door from inside without first pressing the button or opening the driver's door sounds extremely dangerous in an emergency. Passenger unfamilar with this & an incapacitated driver along with a fire anyone? On my laguna & every other car I've had, the auto lock does NOT prevent opening of the passenger door from the inside in the normal fashion. I'm going to try this on my FL next time I drive it! From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

I think if you hit something all the doors unlock. I'm not sure how hard the impact needs to be (not a solution in this case though). Front doors should always unlock and open using the handle from the inside. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Try putting it in Park before trying to open the door, think there may be a thread on here regarding it.

Had the same problem on my Freelander 2. At first it would work every now and again but finally would only open by the fob or the dash button. Door card off and if you really pulled the cable to the lock it would open. Had to change the latch before I could get it to work OK.
