good day/bad day

Driving along the A1 today and saw the rear widow pop out of a caravan and blow away, that made me chuckle (for quite a while).

Then in some form of cosmic karma a pheasant pounced into my headlight and smashed it Evil or Very Mad a call to mr insurance beckons Crying or Very sad

Still its only money, watching that window pop and shoot about 30 ft in the air was priceless. It floated over the fence into a field so no injuries likely. At work

Would it not be cheaper to just buy a new headlight? Excess, plus claim on policy will increase premiums for next 4 or so years Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Everyone but the pheasant, I should imagine. Which is probably now hanging at chez CG Smile

I found a dead pheasant on the drive a couple of mornings back. I'm not sure what got it, but it must have been a hell of a scrap because there were feathers scattered two thirds of the way around the house, and even wing imprints in the pollen dust on the roof of the car! (It might have been a fight between two pheasants, as there seemed to be far more feathers on the ground than were missing from the dead bird, but there are owls and a cat around at the moment too.) Must have made quite a racket, but I slept right through - never heard a thing.

Can anyone explain why pheasants run along the road in front of you in a vain attempt to escape being run over, only remembering at the very last possible moment that they do in fact have wings and thus have the ability to fly and, even then choose to dive into the hedgerow rather than engage flight mode?
