Temporary fix for faulty key fob / key fobs (Unlock / Lock)

Waiting for my freely to go back Saturday due to the key fobs not working like they should Rolling Eyes
At the moment both my fobs are playing up, sometimes they work and sometimes they wont and it has started to stress me out Twisted Evil

Been pulling my hair out this week with my faulty key fobs so when i got home from work today and wanted to see if i could figure out why they was only working 10% of the time and 90% not - just spent 2 hours with both fobs and worked out how to unlock & lock the doors every time Very Happy

This ain't a permanent fix by any means but it may help if your waiting to return your freely to a LR dealer and getting fed-up trying to lock and unlock the doors

Here is what i have discovered

To lock It
Press the lock button 10 times and hold it down on the 11th and the doors will lock

To UnLock It
Press the unlock button twice

I repeated the above 7 or 8 times and it worked every time with out fail Thumbs Up BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Took my car back to the dealer this morning censuring the key fobs, and i must say i was impressed with the way they dealt with things.. thought i was gonna have a hard time getting it sorted out, they plugged it in to the ECU and said sorry sir it looks like it could be one of two things Iver both keys are faulty of the sensor that's located behind the rear spoiler is faulty - he got on the phone to my nearest LR service garage and ordered a new sensor and 2 brand new keys Thumbs Up

And another bonus, while i was there my plates came in, so they fitted them to the car and i drove out a happy bunny

That wasn't a bad turnround on the plates, had private plates on my jeep i PXed, i got the dealer to sort out the plate transfer for me - that was 2 weeks ago and seeing as we had 2 bank holidays within that 2 weeks - that wasn't bad from send off to return (8 days in total) Very Happy BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

I remember buying a car in Nov 2008, it was just as the bottom dropped out of the car market, very few car sales, my plate transfer was taken by the dealer on the monday, all the docs came back on the thursday, 3 days it took! I phoned the dealer to ask when I could pick my car up, they replied 7 days! Shocked I said how come it will take so long, they said thats how long it takes. When I picked the car up it was the worst handover that i've experianced, but thats another story.

With the key fobs, I dont know if this sounds the same but my wife once had a car that the fobs woundnt open the car, but once in the garage they worked fine! It was just outside were they didnt work! Strange. It was sorted out under warranty. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I changed my personal plate on one day. Just turn up at your local DVLA office with the right paperwork and they d0 it while you wait including issuing a new MOT and tax disc. John

Could of done that, but seeing as they shut at 5pm and not open on a saturday it was hard for me to get up there due to work, that's why it was easier for me to get the dealer to sort it out Very Happy BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders
