Bought one of these

Tried it out tonight, worked well, until I checked the pressure in a tyre that was showing 30psi, my gauge read 36psi which it should be, so I tried the valve on a different tyre show that to be 6psi down too

So taken off and called tyrepal to see what they want to do, as this valve isn't calibrated corrected Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I'm not at all suprised Nick. In fact, most garage air lines are just as crap. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I don't use garage air, well I do but always use my own gauge to check pressure

Hopefully I'll have a replacement sent, or they can have it all back Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Replacement all received and working as expected Smile

But it's got me wondering on the temperature side of things, at what temperature should you start to worry with a tyre Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I believe the rule of thumb is 1 psi up or down per 5 degrees Centigrade or 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Higher temperatures increase pressure and lower decrease.

You'll make yourself crazy chasing the temperatures, so just make sure that you are checking at the same time of day before the vehicle has been driven. Also, there is normal pressure loss over time, so it makes sense to check your tire pressure at least every other week. 2013 LR2 HSE LUX: 2.0L I4; Barolo Black, Ebony Windsor Leather; Navigation, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather Pack, Piano Black Trim.

I was wondering what temp you should worry at? The pressure went up as expected when driving as did the temp, I think the tyrepal preset was 70c , which I haven't got anywhere near too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Tire pressure is always read and measured as cold tire pressure. If you fill the tires to 32psi at 15c and the temperature drops to 10c or lower I would consider adding a pound or two. You don't need to compensate for the normal rise in temperatures due to driving. 2013 LR2 HSE LUX: 2.0L I4; Barolo Black, Ebony Windsor Leather; Navigation, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather Pack, Piano Black Trim.

I'm not bothered about filling them up, I know that side of things

I have a tyre pressure monitor (tyrepal) which monitors the pressure and temperature, so I know if I get a flat, but I was wondering if the temperature goes up, say if I have a dodgy bearing what temperature should I get worried at?

I ask as I had a tyre blow on me once whilst doing about 100mph and that could have been caused due to overheating as I had driven that sort of speed for the last few hours Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am not sure if there is a certain temperature that you should start to be worried at. However, I would think the best thing to do would be to monitor for any tire that seems to be a consistently higher temperature than the other three. Even a 10 degree difference when driving in straight line at a constant speed vs the others could indicate an alignment problem or other issue. 2013 LR2 HSE LUX: 2.0L I4; Barolo Black, Ebony Windsor Leather; Navigation, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather Pack, Piano Black Trim.

just thought i would update this Smile

I have run the tyrepal on my car for a few weeks now without issue, though i haven't had a problem either to test its alarm, but i can't see why it wouldn't work as expected

last weekend i towed and switched the sensors to the 4 caravan wheels, the receiver in its normal place (up near the sunroof switch) received a signal and displayed the temp and psi data as it should Razz

takes a minute to transfer from the car, to the caravan using the dust caps from the 'van on the car tyre when switched

the tyre hi/lo pressure setting can be reset in seconds too, though mine are quite near anyway 36/39psi

towing my pressures went up to 42.5psi and temp was around 22c

for piece of mind, well worth the £99 it cost Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi npinks, which Tyrepal product do you have. Is it the TD1000 or TD1200? From what you've said about it I think I might be interested in getting a set for my Freelander. They have a new version due soon as well a TB99, so not sure which I should go for. Joanne

TD1000 as its max psi is 60 and my caravan tyres are below that, if i had my single axle i would have gone for the next version up

i'ed be tempted to look at the newer version myself, i don't think the £99 offer is on anymore Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yep, you're right the offer is no more, and the cheapest appears to be the newer version which is going to cost around £135 I think.

Cheers for the info Joanne

Fifth Gear looked at this (N2 filling) back in the early spring and it's a bit of a gimmick
