You will find with Freelander 2 and other vehicles fitted with Electronic Brake Force Distribution that the rear pads will often wear faster than the fronts. It is a factor of modern braking systems and nothing out of the ordinary. |

As AD said, rears tend to be smaller brakes. Haven't taken much notice of ours to know but would guess the rear discs and pads are smaller as they do less work Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Yes I even noticed the amount of brake dust on the rears after a few days of ownership. It's the way of the new intelligent braking systems. You would wonder why they don't beef-up the rears if this is the way things are going, but then again it's a wear item that brings in profits during servicing.

I just replaced my original front pads at 64K miles, there was still plenty of life left in them. One front disc warped first. |
